Generate top-down battle maps for tabletop and virtual play - taverns, dungeons, forests, ships - with readable terrain, clear cover and an optional grid overlay ready for tokens.
How the rpg battle map generator works
Describe the location, its rough size in squares, the theme and the lighting: 'ruined stone temple, 30 by 20, torchlit, with a collapsed centre'. The generator renders it overhead with readable terrain, obstacles, cover and entry points, and adds a faint grid if you ask. Rerun to change the layout, then import the map into your virtual tabletop and scale it to your grid.
Tips for the best results
Say the size in grid squares so the scale comes out playable. Ask for even lighting rather than dramatic shadow, since dark corners are unusable at the table. Request the grid overlay only if your tabletop software will not add its own. Keep the description to one location per map.
