This Ouija board is entertainment — atmospheric and creepy, always PG and never a real prediction of anything serious.
An online ouija board works best as a group game. Put one phone or laptop where everyone can see it, pick one person to type, and agree on each question together before it goes in. It's a game for fun: the answers are written by AI, so treat them like a spooky story, not advice.
Talking boards grew out of the 19th-century Spiritualist movement in the United States, built on the belief that the dead could communicate with the living. By 1886, news reports described talking boards taking over Spiritualist camps in Ohio. In 1890, Charles Kennard of Baltimore formed the Kennard Novelty Company with investors including Elijah Bond and William Fuld, to make boards under the Ouija name. Bond's patent was granted on February 10, 1891, and the board was marketed as both an oracle and an amusing parlor game. In 1901 William Fuld took over production, and in 1966 Fuld's estate sold the business to Parker Brothers.
