Write a Letter to Santa
A letter to Santa is the oldest part of Christmas and it is easy to write. Start with "Dear Santa", say hello and how your year has been, mention one kind thing you did, then write down two or three things you are hoping for — and ask Santa a question of your own, because he always answers. Finish with "Love from" and your first name; you never need to put your surname or your address on it. Keep it short, because Santa reads thousands. To send it, open the chat at the top of this page, type or paste the whole letter into one message and press send: Santa reads it, picks out a couple of things you mentioned and writes back within seconds. Christmas activities to try with the Santa chat
The chat works best as something to do together rather than a page to read on your own. A few Christmas activities that have legs:
Letter night: everyone writes a letter to Santa, then takes a turn reading theirs into the chat and hearing the reply out loud.
Nice-list check: each person asks Santa how the list is looking and tells him one kind thing they did that week. It is a surprisingly good dinner-table game.
Interview an elf: give a child a notebook and five questions for Jingle, Tinsel or Pepper, and let them write the answers down like a reporter.
Countdown question: ask Santa one question a day through December, instead of a chocolate from the calendar.
Christmas Eve check-in: ask where the sleigh has got to and what the reindeer are being fed before bed.

Children tend to run out of things to say about two messages in, so it helps to have a few questions ready before you start. Is it safe for kids?
It is built for children. Santa is instructed never to ask for personal details — no surname, age, address, school, phone number or photos — never to suggest keeping secrets from a parent, and to steer away from anything scary, romantic or adult. If a child mentions feeling unsafe or being hurt, he encourages them to talk to a parent or another grown-up they trust. Is it the real Santa?
Honestly, for the grown-ups reading: no. This is an AI Santa character written to sound like the Santa of the stories, and the replies are generated by a language model rather than typed by a person. A child asking the playful version of that question gets the traditional answer about kindness; a child who plainly asks whether they are talking to a computer is told warmly that this is a Santa character to chat with.
