How the posterize image tool works
Upload the image and say how many colour levels you want, typically between three and six. The tool finds tonal band boundaries that keep the subject readable, fills each with a solid colour and removes all gradients. Ask for a custom palette in your note if you want specific colours rather than the original ones. Rerun at different levels and pick the crispest result.
Tips for the best results
Fewer levels means a bolder, more graphic result; more levels keeps detail but reads less like a poster. High-contrast source photos posterise best. If the subject vanishes at three levels, go up to four or five. Name a palette, such as 'two-colour navy and cream', for screen-print style output.
